Dedications this Summer

This summer we dedicate two homes in Knightdale. These are the first homes built by Habitat Wake in Knightdale during our 20+ year history. Above left, volunteers from IIANC nail shingles in May. Above right, Deborah and the IBM crew pause for a mid-day picture in June.
At home dedications the home buyer families, volunteers, sponsors, staff, board members and friends join together to celebrate that the families will no longer worry about paying escalating rent to live in rundown dwellings or about their children's safety when they walk to the school bus.
Participants join hands and recite a blessing upon the houses declaring that they be places where neighbors are welcome and find hospitality, friendship and encouragement.
On Saturday, August 23 we dedicated Wanda's house, sponsored by: Independent Insurance Agents of NC. Join us:

Homes Dedicated in 2008
At dedications, the community celebrates the love, compassion, sweat and sore muscles that have resulted in beautifully-built new homes.
Our community has welcomed five families this year to their homes.
23 Homes Dedicated in 2007
Dedications are the culmination of families' hopes and dreams to own a home.
In 2007, volunteers, sponsors and friends celebrated in Raleigh, Cary and Garner with 23 families. They joined hands and recited a blessing upon the houses declaring that they be places where welcomed neighbors find hospitality, friendship and encouragement.
- Mawena, whose family home was dedicated in March, sees the happiness in his children. He said: "To see Zita, Nelson and Grace at play outside in the front yard, backyard and side yard. . .running . . .that's very good."
