Hike for Habitat
About 40 children came out to hike at Blue Jay Park in Raleigh on Sunday, November 2, 2008.
It was a great experience for the youth - even many entire families - because participants demonstrated a tangible why we can collaborate and make a positive difference in our community.
Join us again in 2009! Hike for Habitat teaches lessons of giving and service.
It's an afternoon of youth-friendly building projects, games, coloring, snacks, prizes, and fun! Because it's a service project, it's also a creative way to cultivate compassion in your child. With information in hand about how the Habitat Wake homeownership program works, youth can ask family and neighbors for small financial contributions.
Youth can also collect beverage aluminum cans, which Habitat Wake will recycle for cash. We'll purchase home maintenance kits for Habitat homeowners. Join us in Fall 2009.
Youth Fundrai$ing: Hikers Gather Cans
Hike for Habitat is a great opportunity for youth to collect beverage aluminum cans, which Habitat Wake will recycle for cash. At anytime throughout the year, youth may start an ongoing Cans for Habitat program at your school, faith organization or club.
At right, Wise Recycling processes our cans from previous hikes.

For safety, youth under 16 are not allowed on construction or deconstruction site. However, there are plenty of fun programs -- both indoors and outdoors -- tailored for youth that are great ways to get your kids and their friends involved at Habitat.
