New Year’s Eve

Kevin Campbell | June 30, 2014

Today is the last day of our fiscal year and, oh what a year it has been!  Thanks to God’s faithfulness, an incredibly generous community, and such loyal partners this ministry of Habitat Wake has reached our highest level ever for serving families in a single year!  We are indeed blessed.

42 Wake County families partnered with us to build a new home this year.  38 additional families had their homes brushed with kindness through our exterior repair program.  42 families in Honduras received a home because of our financial donations to Habitat Honduras.   Over 500 people have been touched by Habitat Wake’s work in the past 12 months.  Our ReStores set a record for sales in a single year of over $2.7 million.   Financial donations met our aggressive goals and have returned to pre-recession levels.  We now have about 90 churches and faith communities engaged with us, almost triple the number from several years back.

We are proud to be a part of this work God is doing among us.  We take time at the completion of each home to reflect on that and celebrate with each family we partner with.  But much remains to be done to be sure.  We recently had 100 individuals come to our monthly homeownership application session which is about 3 times the norm.  As Wake County grows and prospers, so grows the need for affordable housing.

We look forward to the blessings and surprises to come in FY15.  We thank you for your humble and generous service!
