I was recently listening to some music from one of my favorite bands, an Irish group called Rend Collective. Here is the lyric that caught my attention:
Increase in us we pray
Unveil why we’re made
Last week, our Board of Directors approved our Fiscal Year 2017 (July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017) plan to serve 205 families in need of housing—60 families as first time homebuyers in Wake County, 45 current homeowners with needed repairs to their homes and 100 families globally through our partners with Habitat in Honduras, Malawi, and Cambodia. In comparison, our plan in Fiscal Year 2016 is to serve 165 families.
As a faith-based organization, we have invested extensive time praying and putting our organization in a position to make this aggressive plan a possibility—the unveiling of why we’re made. We simultaneously know that it is only with God working in and through us that we can even dream of such a plan. So our prayer continues—that God increase in us. The plan only comes to life as partners engage with us in this important mission.
The plan requires the engagement of thousands of people, churches, corporations, schools, and organizations. We need more volunteers than ever. We need more donors than ever. We need more prayers than ever. Thanking you in advance as you listen to God’s call on your heart to respond and ensure the most basic of human needs—decent shelter that is safe and affordable—both here at home and around the world.
