On March 24, the construction phase of the Building Together campaign kicked off in Wake County as volunteers from Wake County Public School System and the community built and raised the walls for Roxanne's new home.

Roxanne and her family are one of 28,000 in Wake County that need a safe, affordable home. Roxanne is a bus driver with Wake County Public School System and is a busy wife and mother. Roxanne was born in Wake County and is newly married. She and her family enjoy reading books, playing and just enjoying life. Roxanne currently rents an apartment that is very expensive, and it's a struggle for her to pay the bills, but she finds a way. She looks forward to helping build her family's home!

Building Together is a collaboration among the following organizations:

  • Habitat affiliates in Wake, Durham and Orange counties and Fayetteville
  • Media Partners - WRAL, FOX50, MIX 101.5 and The News & Observer
  • Community Partners -- Wake County Public School System (Wake), UNC-Chapel Hill (Orange), the Durham Habitat Board of Directors (Durham)
