What is your favorite thing about working for Habitat?: Being able to live out my faith at work.
What does your typical work day look like?: My typical day can change at a moments notice. We have payroll every other week, we can have recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, benefits questions, handbook related issues or question, WC claims, compliance, billing, and training. But that's what keeps the job interesting.
What do you do in your spare time?: Recently my wife and I have been busy with our first child Jackson. He is growing up so fast and we are trying to enjoy time with him. We both work long hours, so we try to be active with him. Before Jackson, I was really into movies, I have an impressive BluRay collection that my wife has accepted.
Do you have any pets or children?: My wife, Miriah, and I have one child, Jackson Yanez born in August 2016. We also have a dog name Toby, he is a beagle cocker spaniel mix.
Favorite sport: I like to watch basketball - I prefer College Basketball more than the NBA, but I root for my UNC Tarheels, San Antonio Spurs and home team, Charlotte Hornets.
Dream vacation: I would love to go back to Disney World. As children, my brother and I were never able to go, and I was recently invited to join a birthday celebration for my wife's grandmother. I would love to take Jackson when he is older and can enjoy all the attractions, so that gives us some time to save up. :-)
Favorite movie line: "Yeah! We're in the rockies!" - My brother and I always try to fit this quote into our conversations.
Favorite place to take out-of-town guests in the Triangle: Boxcar - love the old arcade games I played when I was a kid.
Favorite memory with a Habitat Wake homeowner: The first home dedication that I was able to take my parents to was on Evans Road in Cary. Having different denominations present and all participating in the dedication was amazing. It even made my father tear up when the partner family started to express their gratitude for so many who did not know them, come together for them. It was a blessing to be a part of this celebration.
