Today was our first full day on the job and our team crushed it. We began the day with a gourmet scrambled egg breakfast (thanks Ken!) and a pot of coffee so strong we could spread it on our pita bread (thanks Lee!). Properly fueled and amped up we headed out for the job site with a beautiful sunny day. Yesterday was a bit of a warm-up, but today we really hit our stride moving bricks, mixing the concrete and laying down the walls. We got the exterior walls up to chest high and also got a good start on the interior walls as well. Michelle broke out the tunes and we spent the day singing, dancing and working, with our master builder Ramadan, who was always nearby with a helping hand, cheerful smile and an encouraging “Yes, yes yes!” Lee and Caroline made a special new friend, little Hadeel, the family’s absolutely adorable little girl. She was a little shy at first but soon warmed up to the group, coloring some beautiful pictures with Lee and making friendship bracelets with Caroline. Later in the day, we had the chance to meet the homebuyer's extended family who dropped by to share some delicious rosemary tea. Now we are relaxing for a bit before dinner and trying to squeeze a few more showers out of the house’s poor, overworked water tank. All in all, it was a wonderful Day 2 and I am sure we will all sleep well tonight!
