After much reflection, we have decided to do our 2020 Blueprint Breakfast virtually instead of hosting a physical event.
It is a difficult decision, but we want to make sure we are being responsible community citizens and not putting anyone at risk. We are also aware that with events being canceled around the Triangle, a strain is being put on hourly workers, a population we seek to serve through our affordable homeownership program. We did not make this choice lightly.
We are thankful for the leadership of our presenting sponsor, Wells Fargo, who has graciously committed to honoring their gift even without the physical event happening. This is our largest fundraiser of the year, one that draws more than 800 people and raises $350,000 each year to build affordable homes in our area. We still count on those dollars each year, and we have many families waiting for their opportunity to purchase an affordable home.
The economic repercussions of this unprecedented event are still unknown, and public health crises like these have an outsized effect on our most vulnerable populations. Please stay tuned for ways you can help us make up this critical funding that allows us to support those groups.
This is an uncertain time for everyone and we are continually thankful for our partners as we face this new challenge together as a community.
