Introducing our new Advocacy Committee members

Habitat Wake is excited to introduce three new Advocacy Committee members as we kick off the new year! Our Advocacy Committee includes 14 community members connected to affordable housing through policy expertise, relationships to local government, community organizing or lived experience.  

The Advocacy Committee advocates for policies and systems to increase access to affordable housing in Wake and Johnston Counties, with a focus on affordable homeownership. The Committee will help guide Habitat Wake’s advocacy strategy and implement our 2023 policy priorities.  

Please give a warm welcome to our newest members: 

 Katrece Boyd

Katrece is a business coach, trained facilitator, and entrepreneur. She has 15 years experience in the financial service and economic development industries and currently serves as a Senior Business Counselor with the Small Business & Technology Development. She’s also the Co-Founder of Loving All My Body, an indie beauty brand dedicated to making women’s bodies their home. In 2020, she became an Inaugural Member of the NC IDEA Black Entrepreneurship Council and is currently serving on Raleigh’s Inaugural Black Wall Street Forward Stewardship Council. 

 Jazmine Kilpatrick

Jazmine serves as the Executive Director for the Local Foundation of NC, an entity of Local Government Federal Credit Union. Prior to this role, she led a dynamic group of Credit Union advocates and relationship builders who promote LGFCU to North Carolina’s 540 municipal governments and 100 counties. She received her MPA from Appalachian State University and BS in Journalism from NC Agricultural & Technical State University.  

Jazmine also serves on the Board for Habitat NC, as a committee member for a local nonprofit, as a DEI Committee member for the Cooperative Council of NC and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. 

 Ricky Lourie

Ricky is a Connecticut native but has called North Carolina home for nearly 10 years. He entered the retail workforce following his graduation from Apex High School in 2016. Ricky has been connected to Habitat for 7 years and currently is Store Manager for the Wake Forest ReStore. Before managing the Wake Forest ReStore, Ricky was Assistant Store Manager for the Cary ReStore.  

In his free time, you will find Ricky snowboarding with friends or spending time at home with his sisters, two cats and dog.
