Just over six months ago, Raygan Hansley stood on the foundation of what would soon become her home. At 26, as a paralegal and law student, the path to homeownership was anything but easy. When Raygan discovered Habitat Wake, she realized it could be her key to achieving homeownership, building equity, and securing future stability. But beyond these goals, she also dreamed of creating a space where her family could gather—a kitchen for entertaining, a guest room for her brother, and a cozy home to decorate at Christmas.
Now, those dreams are her reality. Raygan graciously welcomed us into her new home, fully decorated for the holidays.
"I've decorated apartments before, but decorating my home felt different," she shared. "It felt like I was finally able to make something mine."
Was there a moment when it all truly sank in?
"I was just sitting on my couch one night, kind of watching Christmas movies and looking around. I started to tear up a little bit. I thought, wow, you did this."
Being invited into a homeowner’s space is always an honor, and it was heartwarming to see Raygan’s life humming along—from her home office to her festive living area. What was once a bare foundation last summer has truly become a home.
