Faithful

The Sunday before last, I had the pleasure of worshipping with our partners at First Presbyterian Church (FPC) in Raleigh.  They, along with White Memorial Presbyterian Church,  are gearing up to build their 16thHabitat for Humanity house here in Wake County, and I had the opportunity to speak about Habitat’s work in both morning services and in the Sunday School session that they called, “FPC @ Work”.  Partnering with Habitat Wake is one of the ways that FPC has chosen to demonstrate God’s love locally.

I can only begin to tell you how much it means for Habitat Wake, and most importantly, to those 16 families, that we have partners who step up each and every year to both financially sponsor and then actually send out volunteers to build the home.

The homebuyer for FPC’s upcoming Habitat home is Katrina.  She joined me that Sunday—with her four kids in tow—all immaculately dressed for the occasion.  It’s not just building a home that FPC is doing, it’s building a relationship with a family led by a woman who is totally dedicated to providing the best opportunity she can for her kids.   Katrina’s journey toward homeownership with Habitat began 10 years ago in her native Carteret County.  She has persevered and now she stands ready for her final phase of building with some new found friends at a downtown Raleigh church.

Thanks be to God for such wonderful servants and partners!
