At our Board of Directors annual meeting earlier this month, our visionary Board approved an aggressive plan for us to serve 245 families in our Fiscal Year 2018 which begins July 1.  We are closing out a very successful FY17 June 30 and will serve 205 families, the first time in our history to reach the 200 family served level for a single year! For FY18, we’ll serve 70 families with homeownership opportunities and another 50 through our owner occupied Home Preservation repair program.

Habitat Wake is moving forward with its rezoning request for Trimble Avenue in Cary! We’ve made some changes to our project proposal that we hope will be supported by both the Cary Town Council and the surrounding community.

June 5-9, local professional builders and construction experts will join Habitat for Humanity of Wake County to build five safe, affordable homes in one week during the annual Home Builders Blitz. The project kicks off on Monday, June 5 at 9 a.m., when Habitat leaders, builders and sponsors will help raise the walls of a future home located at 5528 Neuse View Drive.

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County’s annual Interfaith Build offers a new twist this year: The Children’s Baffle Project, hosted by Unity of the Triangle. The children’s work day was held on Sunday afternoon, May 21, at Unity of the Triangle. Children as young as six years old decorated pre-cut cardboard baffles, pieces of cardboard that are placed on top of attic insulation in Habitat homes.
