Habitat Wake CEO Bill Ahern is on the City of Raleigh's Affordable Housing Bond Advisory Committee. Our organization is working with the City to see how to best support the housing community, which may include an affordable housing bond on the November 2020 ballot.

As a Christian organization, Easter is a big deal.  My thoughts and prayers are with each of us on this special occasion.

We have two full-time advocacy people — one of whom is on maternity leave (congrats, Rachel!)

While COVID-19 has created a sense of uncertainty, Habitat Wake is still dedicated to advocating for affordable housing. We know that this virus will hit vulnerable communities the hardest, and so we are committed to advocating for those populations. Here’s what we’re working on:

After much reflection, we have decided to do our 2020 Blueprint Breakfast virtually instead of hosting a physical event. 

It is a difficult decision, but we want to make sure we are being responsible community citizens and not putting anyone at risk. We are also aware that with events being canceled around the Triangle, a strain is being put on hourly workers, a population we seek to serve through our affordable homeownership program. We did not make this choice lightly. 

2/21: Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, all Habitat Wake construction sites will be closed today. Our administrative office, however, will be open during our normal business hours.

2/22: We are holding a two-hour delay on all volunteer sites. Sites will open back up at 10am. 

Due to inclement weather, our Women Build dedication scheduled for Friday, Feb. 21 has been postponed. Our team is currently working to confirm a new time and date. We apologize for the inconvenience!
